Carl
Fredrik will show two different series of prints at the
Trygve Lie Gallery: "A Union of Sorts" and "Universe".
All the prints are handmade, so that each individual print
is a unique statement. Through the pressure applied by hand
and with a wooden spoon, the line and the forms are individually
treated so that they attain the desired effect, i.e., from
strong pressure -- to give maximum coloring, or rendered
very loose to gain more lightness and athmosphere. This
technique plays an important role regarding the subject
matter of each print -- the solid versus the ethereal, and,
further, in giving the prints a personal tone.
"A
Union of Sorts" is a series based on drawings created
almost 8 years ago. Here the themes are of two individuals
trying to co-exist, to relate or to intervene, despite differences
and issues of incompatibility -- the quest for a wholesome
union!
"Universe"
is a recent series, 2006, of 12 images, all in the same
format of 9 x !2.5. Created in two editions -- one blue,
the other red/silver, the themes here are also about seeking
union, but of a different kind: union stemming from complex
spiritual situations.
Carl
Fredrik was born in Oslo, Norway. He has an MFA in Painting
