OPENING RECEPTION TUESDAY DEC 6, 6-8 PM:
We invite you to join Artist Anne Katrine Senstad
for the exhibition and release of her book of portraits:

The Norwegians

Portraits by Anne Katrine Senstad.
Dec 6th - Jan 15th.

Designed by Pure + Applied, NY.
Printed in Norway by Deschling AS.
Limited edition of 600

The book consists of 50 photographic portraits of Norwegians, an artistic investigation of the subjects cultural identity. It is the culmination of an ongoing project the artist has been engaged in over the years.

"The Norwegians is about an investigation of - and a reaction to my roots, Norwegian society, it's people, culture and social phenomena.", says Ms. Senstad. "These portraits allow us to study a selection of Norwegian types. Their faces and clothing reveal explicit as well as more subtle signs that flag nationality and culture."

The portraits are of Norwegian men, a mixture of prominent personalities such as authors, explorers and artists as well as 'everyday' people. What ties the subjects together is that they all embody the character and essence of 'Norwegians'.

The book also contains the accompanying essays by Director of the Sander archives in Cologne, Gerd Sander and prizewinning Norwegian author Thure Erik Lund. Both essays are printed in both Norwegian and English.

Admission is free, and the exhibit is open to the public.
Opening hours: Monday – Thursday: 12-8. Friday - Sunday: 12-5.
Where: Trygve Lie Gallery, 317 East 52nd St., New York (between 1. and 2. Avenues).
