Images
in time and sculptures from the ocean. A journey through
space and time.
Like
the fish in the sea,
our thoughts soar freely in their element.
The flow of our thoughts is limited by learned concepts.
Beyond these concepts lie new,
and yet undiscovered truths.
What defines time?
What defines space?
What defines nothingness?
Perhaps
this exhibition can stimulate the fantasy to see things
from different points of view. A journey beyond the established.
Camilla
and Jan Warholm live in Stavern, which is the smallest
city in Norway. It lies next to the Oslo Fjord. Jan and
Camilla have been married for twenty-eight years, and for
the last fifteen they have created different works of art
working side by side. Most of these works are made from
iron, but they also use glass, wood, and stone in their
creations. Jan receives his inspiration from the ocean,
and uses organic forms in his work. Camilla uses simple,
clean lines, which are elegantly expressive.
"We
shape our iron in an untraditional way. Unlike the blacksmith,
we form the iron without heating it. After the welding process
we transform the material into many different shapes. These
include candleholders, furniture, sculptures and pictures.
One of the most prominent works we have done was for the
American Cruise Liner, Radison’s Seven Seas Voyager.
We have also done works for schools, hotels, and churches.
Our last exclusive work was for the Torp International Airport,
in Sandefjord, Norway. The title of this work is “The
Sky is the Limit”. We also use this as our motto,
because there are no limits as to what you can make from
these fantastic materials."
